The Polish Baltic Frédéric Chopin Philharmonic Began Its Activity In 1945 As Gdańsk Symphony Orchestra. For Four Decades Its Cultural Activity Was Combined With The Opera Department And Changed Into Polish Baltic Opera And Philharmonic (Poifb). In 1993, These Two Units Were Divided, And The Facility Was Transformed Into Independent Polish Baltic F. Chopin Philharmonic. Only The Question Of Its Headquarters Became Unanswered. The Opera Remained In The Old Sport And Entertainment Arena From 1915. In 1997, The Power Station “Wybrzeże” Handed Over Its Old Buildings Located On The Island Of Ołowianka In Gdańsk. The Edifice Was Then Adapted For The Needs Of The Gdańsk Music And Congress Centre. The Revitalization Of The XIX Century Power Station Buildings, Was An Innovative Solution In Those Days. Within The Range Of The Project, A Concert Hall With 1000 Seats, Chamber Music Hall, Two Multi-Purpose Halls, A Foyer, Backup Rooms And A Hotel Were Created.
Fully Equipped Gdańsk Music And Congress Centre Was Commissioned In 2007, Although On September 19th 2003, In Raw Walls Of The Facility A Concert Of An Excellent Pianist Ewa Pobłocka Took Place.
The Hall Is Fitted With The Modern Lighting Equipment, Including Source Four LED Reflectors By ETC (16 Pcs.), Fresnel 2000W Luminaires Arena High Performance By Philips Selecon (7 Pcs.) Or Moving Head Type Devices – Mac 700 Profile By Martin Professional (8 Pcs.).
Under The Ceiling, 28 Pcs. Of TLM 120 By M.T.S. Telescopes Were Installed, Each Having A Load Capacity Of 50 Kg. In Addition, Six, 3-Meter Stage Barrels With A Load Capacity Of 120 Kg And Three Pcs. Of 11m Wide Truss Systems By Eurotruss, With The Load Capacity Of 500 Kg, Were Installed.
