Completion date: 2002
The historical playhouse of the Wrocław’s Opera came into being in 1837. Since then, the building went under several modernization procedures, but the thorough modernization was necessary, due to a poor technical condition of the facility.
In the years 1997-1998, the P.S. TEATR company has elaborated the new stage machinery design, the stage lighting design as well as the electrical drive system project. The projects included the most up-to-date technical solutions and lighting equipment, such as – the first in Poland follow apparatus, controlled via radio signal from the transmitter which was held by the actor.
Next, during the years 1998-2003, we have developed stage mechanics and the drive system equipment, including: stage lifts, orchestra pit lifts, where for the first time in Poland, the Spiralift drive has been used, light bridges, electrically driven stage barrels, as well as the electrical driven stage drives with fully automated computer control.
The modernization design was elaborated by a team, including: eng. Jerzy Gumiński, responsible for the stage technology, eng. Mirosław Łysik and eng. Małgorzata Bober – stage mechanics, eng. Tomasz Zaborowski and eng. Jerzy Gumiński – stage lighting system and electrical stage drives.
The opera’s team was receiving new rooms one at a time, untill 2006, when the official closure to the whole modernization process took place. The Wrocław Opera is now one of the biggest and most significant opera houses in Poland.
